MIDLAND, Mich. (Tue., Jan. 24) - Coming into the game against the #7 Flushing Raiders, the Midland Chemics girls varsity basketball team ranked #10 and were looking to hand the soon-to-be-Saginaw-Valley-opponent their first loss of the season. With crafty coaching by Elaine Mahabir and great outings from senior guard Jenn Jarema and sophomore Jessica Walter, Midland got it done with a convincing 57-40 win. 1. Jenn Jarema Cuts to the Basket
Midland's Jarema takes the ball at the key and zig-zags her way in for the basket down low. She finished the game with 16 points for the Chemics.
2. Chemics Team Breakaway
Midland's Walter stands up to disturb the Flushing offense and grabs the rebound to initiate the team breakaway. Walter feeds it down low to senior guard Maura McAfee who quickly gives it to Midland's open senior forward Mikayla Russell for the basket.
3. Inbounds Swing to Walter
Midland executes this in-bounds play to perfection, returning the ball to Walter for three points. Walter finished with the game-high 22 points for the Chemics.
