Northwood Basketball Partnership

MIDLAND, Mich. – In conjunction with Northwood University, ESPN 100.9-FM (WLUN) is pleased to announce a partnership that will have men’s and women’s basketball games carried on the radio station beginning with the 2016-17 season. It will be the first time in Northwood basketball history that both home and road games will air on the radio and online.

“It’s really exciting for our radio station to bring Northwood basketball onto our airwaves,” Vice President Scott Litle said. “We pride ourselves on being the local sports leader in the region. Partnering with Northwood continues to keep us in line with our vision of providing listeners with as much local content as possible.”

Play-by-play broadcaster Chris Vosters, who announces Great Lakes Loons games and Saginaw Valley League athletics for the station, will serve as the broadcaster for all home basketball games at Riepma Arena inside the Bennett Sports Center. When the team travels on the road, Northwood Sports Information Director Travis McCurdy will call the action.

“We have had an outstanding relationship with 100.9-FM the past several years and are really looking forward to building on that partnership,” Northwood Athletic Director Dave Marsh said. “We appreciate this opportunity to expand our on-air basketball coverage and look forward to a great season.”

As in past years, Northwood Basketball Weekly will be the supplemental program to all gameday broadcasts during the season. Interviews with coaches and players will offer fans the chance to get an inside look into both basketball programs. In the fall, Northwood Football Weekly will continue to air on the radio station, keeping the Great Lakes Bay Region informed about the Timberwolves.

ESPN 100.9-FM (WLUN, Pinconning) is a 24-hour all-sports station owned by the non-profit Michigan Baseball Foundation. It is the flagship station of Great Lakes Loons baseball and carries a weekday lineup of Mike & Mike, The Dan Le Batard Show, Russillo & Kanell, and the Huge Show with Bill Simonson. The station also carries the Detroit Pistons, Michigan State Football and Basketball, Northwood Basketball, along with Saginaw Valley League Football and Basketball.
