Great Lakes Loons
A double header (two 7-inning games) between Dayton and Great Lakes was scheduled for May 24, but game one was suspended after 13 innings. Chris Mathewson threw the next day…
The Loons beat the Lake County Captains 3-2 at Dow Diamond and although Leo Crawford did not get the win, he logged his 3rd straight start of 6 innings. This time allowing 0 earned runs.
Hard to believe, but the Loons are already over a quarter of the way through the 2017 baseball season. Time to encapsulate the first 35 games of the year.
Thanks to mother nature, the Loons weren’t able to have the proper party everyone was hoping for on Opening Day. Instead, we were able to celebrate a month later with nearly 3,000 fans on a blustery night
Devin Smeltzer was the first Loon pitcher this year to strike out 10 opposing hitters and he joined Brad Tunney outside the Loons clubhouse following an 8-4 Loons win.
The Loons lost to Peoria, but 18-year-old Keibert Ruiz turned in the first 4-hit game of the season for a Loons hitter. It was Ruiz’ 2nd 4-hit game of his career.
Loons break out of a 5-game losing streak with their 2nd walk-off home run of the season. Carlos Rincon leads the Midwest League in homers and he joined us after the game.
Devin Smeltzer tossed a career-high six innings while striking out a career-high, eight. Smeltzer has now gone 15 straight innings without allowing a run.
Cody Thomas went 1-3 with a 3-run home run as part of a 7-1 win for the Loons to start a 3-game series against the Lake County Captains. It was Thomas’ fourth home run.
